The most common cut resistance standard is the UK EU BS EN 388 (equivalent to the Australian/New Zealand standard AS/NZS 2161.3). The specification covers 4 types of mechanical risks, namely anti-wear, anti-cut, anti-tear and anti-stab. Gloves that meet the specifications must be marked with the shield logo of the blacksmith's hammer and iron image, and express the degree of protection on a scale of 1 to 4, with a cut resistance rating of up to 5. Sometimes "x" and "0" are also used, indicating not applicable and a rating lower than "1", respectively. Gloves must also meet the general, comfort and efficiency, test procedures and labelling and information requirements set out in BS EN 420, such as water penetration, release of hexavalent chromium from leather gloves, etc.

When conducting the cut resistant test, take a sample from the palm of the glove, cross-cut it back and forth with a tungsten steel rotary cutter, and record the number of revolutions required to cut through the sample to compare the results of the standard cotton sample that was cross-tested at the same time. The higher the index, the stronger the cut resistance. However, the cut resistance test is not suitable for very hard materials.


Cleaning and storage of wire gloves


1. Wash gloves with soapy water (50°C) or hot water (50°C) mixed with detergent, at least once a day.


2. Washed gloves should be stored in a cool and ventilated place.


3. Do not clean the wire gloves by hitting them with hard objects.


4. Avoid contact with sharp objects on the surface of the gloves as much as possible during use.



Cut-resistant gloves should not be used when repairing thorny plants. Because cut-resistant gloves are made of steel wires, there will be many dense small holes to allow thorns to pass through. Correct gloves should be used when repairing flowers and plants to avoid injury.


Cut-resistant gloves are designed for people's long-term industrial safety. Under long-term use, small holes may appear in the gloves after continuous contact with sharp knives. If the small holes in the gloves exceed 1 square centimeter, the gloves need to be repaired or replaced.
